Existentialism

Existentialism in literature is often expressed through works in which the protagonist encounters the hopelessness and meaninglessness of his life. Works of this direction usually reflect internal conflicts and the search for meaning in life, as well as put forward the idea of the need for independent choice and action.

Works of existentialism can be both dramatic and prosaic, and are often characterized by philosophical reflections and attention to the inner world of the characters. They make the reader think about the meaning of life, free will and the inevitability of death.
