Isaac Bashevis was born on July 14, 1902 in the village of Yaronov, which was then located in the Russian Empire (now in Poland). He was the ninth child of a rabbi. His father, Moshe Singer, was a respected rabbi and scholar, which also said a huge impact on the young Isaac.
