Ellinor Emilia was born December 19, 1868 in Lafayette, New Hampshire, USA. She was the second child in the family and grew up in a large and friendly family. Her childhood was filled with joy and tenderness, and she often found inspiration in her own memories of parents and loved ones.

Ellinor's life was not without difficulties, however. In 1892, at the age of 24, she married John Lyman Porter. They had no children in marriage, and a few years later the marriage broke up. This great loss and personal tragedy turned out to be important moments in Ellinor's life, and they were reflected in her work.

Ellinor Porter's first literary experience began with the publication of poems and short stories in the local press. However, real success came to her with the publication of the novel "For Young Children" ("Cross Currents") in 1907. This novel received positive reviews and was the beginning of her literary career.

Ellinor was most famous for the book "Little Lady Grodnichka," published in 1913. The story of the positive and cheerful girl Pollyanna and her ability to find joy in any situation became an instant bestseller.
