What dreams may come (1998)

The main plot develops around two young people who accidentally meet on the banks of the river in a provincial town. Jesse and Celine - American and French - fall in love at first sight. However, their acquaintance is no coincidence: they deliberately spend the whole night together, despite the fact that Jesse must leave the next morning.

As they walk the streets of the city, discussing life, love, art and philosophy, they are faced with questions of their own self-determination and values ​ ​ in life. Their conversations become a central moment of the film, opening up a world of inner experiences and thoughts of the main characters.

In the process of communication, they reveal to each other their dreams, fears and hopes, opening up to each other, as in front of close friends. They realize that their meeting is of particular importance and becomes a kind of turning point in their lives.

However, when morning arrives, Jesse must leave Celine to return home. Their farewell becomes bitter, but at the same time hope for the future of the meeting.

9 years after their meeting, we meet the main characters again. They are adults now, each with their own lives and their own frustrations. They meet again in Vienna, where Jesse meets with his family. Over the course of one day, they discuss their past dreams and reflect on their future, raising many topics and questions that have gone unanswered all these years.
