Rabindranath was born on 7 May 1861 in Kolkata, into a Bengali family that had deep roots in Indian culture and literature. His father, Debendronath Tagore, was a respected writer and philosopher, and his mother, Sharda Devi, was an inspiration and support for the young Rabindranath.

Rabindranath received his primary education at a private school and later enrolled at the University of Calcutta. He also studied in England at the University of London. His travels and education opened up new horizons for him and inspired literary and philosophical creativity.

Rabindranath Tagore was a multifaceted talent, and his literary output spanned various genres, including poetry, prose, dramaturgy, and essays. His poems were written in Bengali and later translated into many world languages. His collection of poems "Gitanjali" (or "Song of Songs") became a world bestseller and won him the Nobel Prize.

Rabindranath was not only a great poet but also a philosopher whose ideas about the world, nature, human existence and spirituality had a profound impact on many. His philosophical beliefs revolved around the idea of universal uniqueness and harmony, and the importance of free thought and spiritual development.
