Pierre Chauderlot de was born on October 18, 1741 in Paris, France, into a family of aristocrats. He later entered the Lyceum of Versailles, where he also deepened his knowledge of literature and social sciences.

Pierre Chauderlot de began his literary career working as a military engineer, but soon resigned from this position to devote himself entirely to literary work. His first publication was the novel "Didonne, or Roman Ode," which appeared in 1772. He also wrote poems, plays and essays, but he gained real fame thanks to the novel Dangerous Liaisons, published in 1782.

"Dangerous Liaisons" became his magnum opus and one of the most famous works of French literature. The novel describes the intrigues and sexual manipulations of the aristocracy before the start of the French Revolution. This work caused a storm of scandals and discussions, but also brought fame and recognition to the author.

Pierre Chauderlot de Laclos was a man of interesting and contraversial character. His social activism and literary activities were controversial and criticized by some peers. Nevertheless, his works, including "Dangerous Liaisons," became important studies of human relations and social morals of their time.
