One of her first and most important discoveries was the complete skeleton of a marine reptile, which she discovered in 1811. This was a significant scientific achievement, as few people understood the nature of fossils at the time.

In 1823, she discovered the first complete skeleton of an ichthyosaur, an ancient sea lizard, which is considered one of the most important paleontological discoveries in history.
