In this biography, we look at the life and work of John Le Carré, his influence on world literature and the importance of his works.

David John Moore Cornwell, better known as John Le Carré, was born on October 19, 1931 in Poole, Dorset, UK. His childhood was complex and determined his future in many ways. His father, Ronnie Cornwell, was a fraud and often got into trouble with the law. This dark side of family life influenced young John and became one of the themes he would explore in his books.

After leaving school, John Le entered the University of Oxford, where he studied modern languages. Subsequently, he joined the British intelligence agency MI5 and then MI6, where he spent some time in Germany and other countries, engaged in intelligence activities. These experiences became the basis for his future spy novels.

John Le Carré began writing in the mid-1960s, when he was already a former scout. His first novel, Call for the Dead, was published in 1961 and introduced the main character, George Smiley, to readers. This character has become one of the most famous and popular in the world of spy literature.

Further novels such as "Spies Among Us" ("Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy") and "Little Druzhok, Big Druzhok" ("The Honorable Schoolboy") continued Smiley's story and became part of the spy series. These books were distinguished by a deep analysis of the characters and complex plots, full of intrigue and betrayal.
