Jean-Jacques was born on June 28, 1712 in Geneva, Switzerland, in the family of a watchmaker. His childhood was marked by poverty and the loss of his mother at an early age. received his main education in Geneva, but his teaching career was not brilliant, and he left Switzerland, embarking on his first trip.

In the course of his many travels, Jean-Jacques became acquainted with many of the great minds of his era, including Voltaire, Diderot and Grimm. These meetings and interactions with Enlightenment thinkers had a profound impact on his philosophical development.

The main topics of philosophy were human nature, society and politics. His most famous works are The Social Contract and Émile, or On Education. In "On the Social Contract" he developed ideas about the sovereignty of the people and the importance of the social contract between citizens and the state. In Emil, or On Education, he outlined his views on education and personality development.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a prominent political philosopher whose ideas about justice, freedom and democracy had a profound influence on the French Revolution and the formation of modern political institutions. His idea of ​ ​ the sovereignty of the people and the binding nature of the social contract became key concepts in political thought.

Personal life was marked by many contradictions and tragedies. His relationships with women, including a mysterious history with Thérèse Le Vasier, were controversial and debated. He also suffered from depression and illness.
