James Tate - Biography

Vincent Tate (James Vincent Tate) was born on December 8, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. He became one of the great American poets of the 20th century, whose poems are distinguished by their acute observation, original metaphors and deep philosophical reflections. His work intertwines comic and melancholy, creating a unique style.

James grew up in a family of art people. His father was a famous poet and his mother was an artist. This family atmosphere inspired him to pursue literature and art. He studied at Harvard University, where his interest in poetry and literature only intensified.
