Henry Longfellow - Biography

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is a name associated with beautiful poetry, deep feelings and eternal values. This American poet left an indescribable mark on world literature, creating works that still delight and inspire readers around the world.

Henry was born on February 27, 1807 in Portland, Maine, United States. He was the second of eight children in the family, and his childhood was spent in a friendly and educated environment. Henry's father was a lawyer, and his mother was committed to education. These influences were instrumental in shaping his future career and passions.

Longfellow graduated from Bowide College in Brannwick, Maine. He later continued his education at Harvard, where he studied Latin, Greek, and other classical subjects. His education was broad and deep, and this allowed him to become a distinguished poet and literary critic.

Henry began to write poetry from a young age, and already in his student years his talent was obvious. He created poetry in both English and other languages, including French, Spanish and Italian. His poems were inspired by both classical literature and contemporary events and experiences.

Henry Longfellow's most famous works include The Song of Hiawatha, The Village Blacksmith, The Arrow and the Song, and perhaps his most famous work, The Bright "Paul Revere's Ride," in which he describes Paul River's famous campaign during the American Revolution.

Henry became the first American poet whose works were widely recognized and popular both in the United States and abroad. His poems were translated into many languages ​ ​ and were very popular in Europe. He was not only a poet, but also a literary critic, which allowed him to contribute to the development of American literature and literary culture.
