Henry Longfellow - Biography

Wadsworth Longfellow is a name associated with beautiful poetry, deep feelings and eternal values. This American poet has left an indescribable mark on world literature, creating works that still delight and inspire readers around the world.

Henry was born on February 27, 1807, in Portland, Maine, United States. He was the second of eight children in the family, and his childhood passed in a friendly and educated environment. Henry's father was a lawyer, and his mother was a supporter of education. These influences were instrumental in shaping his future career and passions.

Longfellow graduated from Bowyda College in Brannuik, Maine. He later continued his education at Harvard, where he studied Latin, Greek and other classical subjects. His education was broad and deep, and this allowed him to become a prominent poet and literary critic.

Henry began writing poetry from a young age, and already in his student years his talent was obvious. He produced poetry in both English and other languages, including French, Spanish and Italian. His poems were inspired by both classical literature and contemporary events and experiences.

Henry Longfellow's most famous works include The Song of Hiawatta, The Village Blacksmith, The Arrow and the Song, and perhaps his most famous work, Paul Revere's Ride, in which he describes the famous campaign of the American Revolution.

Henry became the first American poet whose works were widely recognized and popular both in the United States and abroad. His poems were translated into many languages and enjoyed great popularity in Europe. He was not only a poet, but also a literary critic, which allowed him to contribute to the development of American literature and literary culture.
