Elie P. Wiesel - Biography
Wiesel, a prominent Jewish writer and social activist, was born on 30 September 1928 in Sighet, Transylvania (currently Sighetu Marmacă, Romania). He grew up in a believing family and was one of four children. His father, Shlomo Wiesel, was a small-time merchant, and his mother, Sara Feiga, was a housekeeper.During World War II, Eli and his family were deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp.
