Carlo Goldoni - Biography

Goldoni (Carlo Goldoni) was born on February 25, 1707 in Venice, Italy, in the family of a physician. His parents hoped that he would also become a doctor, but fate prepared him for a different path. Goldoni became one of the most influential playwrights of his time and is considered the creator of modern comedy.

Goldoni received a classical education in schools in Venice and Padua, but his real hobby was the theater. He began writing his first plays at a young age and showed his talent in comedy. His parents were against his theatrical ambitions, but that didn't stop him from following his passion.

Carlo began his career as an actor and playwright in provincial theaters in Italy. His first works were in the commedia dell'arte style, but over time he sought more realistic and modern plays.

1. "The Servant of Two Masters" is one of his most famous comedies, which became a classic and an inspiration for many later playwrights.

2. "The Coffee House" is a comedy that criticized the social mores and interaction of different strata of society in the cafe.

3. "The Hypocrites" is a work that exposed the hypocrisy and double standards of society.
