Haley (Alex Haley) is a name that is associated with powerful literary work and historical significance. His books and studies on slavery and the history of African Americans made him not only a popular writer, but also a key figure in the struggle for civil rights and coverage of the topic of slavery in the United States.

Alex was born on August 11, 1921 in Italy, Alabama, into a family of rural workers. In his youth, he developed an interest in literature and writing. However, his education was interrupted and he took part in World War II, serving in the United States Air Force.

After returning from the war, he began to study at the Alabama State College, where he continued to develop his literary abilities. His education and service experience became the foundation for a future career as a writer and journalist.

Alex began his career as a journalist, working for various newspapers and magazines. His journalistic talent and capacity for research were quickly noticed, and he began to write about various social and cultural topics.

However, the real breakthrough in his career was his interaction with Malcolm X, a civil rights leader and African American rights activist. Haley published a series of articles about Malcolm X for Playboy magazine and later wrote the book The Autobiography of Malcolm X, which became a bestseller and made Haley a famous author.

Alex's most famous and influential work was Roots: The Saga of an American Family. This book, published in 1976, is a historical novel that tells the story of an African-American family, from their ancestors in Africa to modern times.
