White Desert Sun (1970)

The action takes place at the beginning of the 20th century in the vastness of Central Asia during the Civil War in Russia. The protagonist, communist revolutionary Fyodor Sukhov, left alone in the desert after the defeat of his army, is looking for shelter in an abandoned medieval fortress. Here he meets an unusual old man who is the owner of the fortress, and his beautiful wife Danya, who dreams of returning to civilization.

Sukhov decides to stay with them to protect the fortress from the robbers and entertain Danya, who suffers from loneliness and nostalgia for city life.
