Taxi driver (1976)

The main character of the film, Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver), played by Robert De Niro, is an unemployed Vietnam War veteran who suffers from social isolation and mental disorders. He works as a taxi driver in New York and observes the destroyed morality and immoral behavior of the city's residents.

Gradually, Travis begins to feel outside the system, alien and not understanding the world in which he lives. His loneliness and alienation deepen and he begins to take drastic measures to change his life and the world around him.

The film follows Travis's path, his gradual spiral descent into madness and bigotry. He begins to prepare himself to commit an act of violence in order to show his protest against the existing society and order of things. His appeal to violence and extremism represents a critical reflection of the darker sides of American culture and society.

In the course of his journey, Travis encounters various aspects of life in New York City, including prostitutes, political activists, drug addicts, and mobsters. Each encounter only deepens his conviction of the destructiveness and immorality of the world around him.
