Soloist (2009)

The story begins when journalist Stephen Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.), who is facing a creative crisis, accidentally discovers incredible musical talent in a homeless violinist named Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx). Nathaniel, known as "The Soloist," plays an old violin instrument under a bridge in Los Angeles.

Upon learning of Soloist's talent, Stephen begins to explore his past and discovers that Nathaniel was once a student at a prestigious music academy, but lost his future to severe depression and schizophrenia. Meeting Stephen becomes a turning point in his life.

Stephen decides to help the Soloist return to music and realize his talent. He arranges performances for him, arranges meetings with talented musicians and even tries to find housing for him. However, attempts to help Nathaniel face his own demons and problems.

As Stephen plunges into the life of the Soloist, he begins to understand the complexity and morbidity of his attitude. He faces the inability to fully help a friend and realizes that solving the Soloist problem requires not only will and effort, but also professional medical intervention.
