Empire of the Sun (1987)

The main character, Jim Graham, an American boy living in Shanghai, witnesses the Japanese capture of the city during the outbreak of World War II. Separated from his family, Jim finds himself in a Japanese internment camp, where he will go through a series of trials and fight for survival.
