Believe in the Voice

A dense fog hovers around, obscuring visibility so much that you can see only a small piece of the world around you. The wind, always strong and prickly in these mountains, blows over the rocks, causing them to tremble with its power. A rock climber, huddled against a mountain wall, decides to give his body some rest after a tedious climb. But a harmful voice continues to sound in his ears, persistently commander:

'You can't stand! You'll only get tired more"

Gritting his teeth, he continues on his way up. With only a couple of metres to go until the next set, each step feels heavier and heavier. But willpower keeps his movement going despite fatigue. Suddenly a familiar sound is heard - a falling stone. In the blink of an eye, he realizes that he does not have time to dodge, and the stone hits him on the forehead, unbalancing him. Slipping, he feels his palms peeling off a rough plumb line, and when he is ready to go down, someone grabs him by the scruff of the neck and returns him to the rock. He clings to the cold stone, feeling gratitude to the invisible savior. Raising his head, he sees that there are only twenty meters left until the next site, but half of the ledges along which he could continue the path are destroyed. He is forced to look for a new way.

Looking down, he notices that the previous landing is almost under his feet. Jumping off seems like an easy decision, but he knows there won't be shelter from the wind or a water source down there. The words ring out in his ears again:

"Believe me, I won't let you die."

He grins, replying:

"I know".

"Climb on!"

'Trust me, you don't need hooks. It's an easy climb here"

"I know," he replies, "but let them be better."

"Trust me, you can do it without hooks."

"I know, but I don't want to take any chances," he replies.

But the hook he relied on caught him slipping out from under his feet. He tries to cling to something, but in vain. This time he cannot resist and falls. But at the last moment it is caught, preventing a fall. He admits:

"I know you won't let me crash."

Waking up the next morning, he feels a surge of strength and vigor. A fire crackles around him, and porridge boils in the pot. He looks down, seeing a green sea of trees at the base of the rock. He knows that today he will succeed. He takes hooks with him and starts climbing. This time he manages to get to the landing, where he knows his savior is already waiting.

"I know you're here!" 'he yells.

"What for?" 'the voice replies.

"To know for sure!"

"Believe me, I'm here."

At that moment, he hears a familiar sound, and the stone begins to roll directly onto him. But his voice reassures him:

'It won't hit you. Believe it"

He smiles as he pulls up to the next court.
