Kate Nigels was able to get the desired position of architect-designer at the prestigious Stevens firm at the last moment. Her designs impressed the head of the firm, Reginald Stevens, who was simply fascinated by her talent. Along with colleague Phil, they delivered their designs shortly before another applicant for the vacancy arrived.

Phil expressed doubts about the newcomer: "Now it's so fashionable to roll from Paris, there they push them like that." Reginald instructed Phil to talk to his colleague Mabel so that she would "conjure a little," but admitted that she should not be upset, let her dress as she wants. Ultimately, Reginald was confident in Kate's talent and decided to hire her.

However, the emergence of a new candidate, Rawlinson, raised doubts among Phil. Reginald explained that Rawlinson has a European background and experience in construction, which could be good for the firm. He offered to hire Rawlinson as a civil engineer to pair with Kate. Phil was resentful of Reginald for his words, but agreed.

Phil walked Rawlinson to Reginald and then discovered a transformed Kate, who greeted him with joy. Reginald declared Keith the architect and Rawlinson the civil engineer, and ordered them to start work. Joking merrily, Kate asked for a kiss, but Phil quickly sent her into the lift for fear of being exposed.

Phil, still somewhat worried about Rawlinson's arrival, went to his office, where he tried to gather his thoughts. He began to examine documents and projects, trying to concentrate on work, but he could not get out of his head thinking about recent events.

Suddenly Reginald entered his office, accompanied by Rawlinson. "Phil, you should meet our new employee," Reginald said. Phil, restraining his feelings, politely greeted Rawlinson and invited him to sit down.

'Rawlinson, you've already met Kate, our architect. You will work closely together in the work," Reginald explained.

"With pleasure, of course," Rawlinson replied with a smile, and Phil couldn't help but notice his good looks and politeness.

Reginald talked a little with Phil about current projects and plans for the future, then wished them success and left the office. Phil was left alone with Rawlinson and his anxiety began to gradually dissipate.
