One of Trueman's most famous works was the novel Breakfast at Tiffany's, published in 1958. This story about Goldie Holly - a young woman, a free soul and a symbol of her time - became a bestseller and is considered a classic of American literature. Her adaptation also brought her worldwide fame.

Truman Capote is also known for his documentary works including "Murder in Cold Blood" (1966) and "On a Fragile Branch" (1957). The first of them investigates the real slaughter that occurred in a small town in Kansas, and the second is the story of a little girl named Sue, left alone after the death of her parents.

Trueman's personal life was complicated and intriguing. He was openly gay, which was an unusual and bold statement at the time. His friendship with Harper Lee, author of "To Kill a Mockingbird," was particularly close and affecting his work.
