However, the real breakthrough for him was the book "The Wizard of Oz," published in 1900. This fairy tale story about a girl named Dorothy who fell into the magical Land of Oz became an instant bestseller and won the hearts of readers of all ages.

The next books in the Oz series also became popular and continued to tell the adventures of Dorothy and her friends in an amazing world. In total, he wrote 14 books about Oz, and the series has become one of the most famous and beloved children's literary franchises in history.
