With his witty and provocative style, he not only made millions of people laugh, but also provoked discussion and touched on social and political issues with his performances. In this biography, we look at key moments in his life and his huge contribution to the world of comedy and community culture.

George Denis Patrick was born on May 12, 1937 in New York, USA. His childhood was challenging and he grew up in the Harlem area in a middle-class family. From an early age, George developed an interest in comedy and stand-up, inspired by the work of comedians such as Lenny Bruce and Mort Saul.

His comedy career began in the late 1950s and he performed in nightclubs and television shows. He quickly attracted attention for his bold humor and unconventional themes for stories. His first performances were more traditional, but over time he developed his unique style, which became his trademark.

The 1960s were a period of significant cultural and social change in the United States. George was heavily involved in the process through his performances and comedy routines. He ridiculed taboo topics, revealed the hypocrisy of society and expressed unpopular opinions about politics, religion and morality.

His monologue "Seven Words You Can't Say on TV" became famous, in which he raised issues of censorship and freedom of speech. The number led to big scandals but also cemented George's status as a brash and indomitable comedian.

George's career began to blossom in the 1970s. He released a number of iconic albums recording his stand-up performances, such as "Class Clown" (1972), "Occupation: Foole" (1973) and "An Evening with Wally London Featuring Bill Slaszo" (1975). These recordings became hits and continue to be popular among comedy fans.
