Angela Carter - Biography

Carter was born on May 7, 1940 in London, UK. Her childhood was not easy, and she often spent time in the library, reading books became her salvation from family difficulties. These experiences shaped her love of literature and desire to become a writer.

Angela studied at British College and at the University of Bristol, where she studied English literature. Her teachers inspired her literary writing, and she began writing poetry and short stories. During this period, she also became interested in feminism and folklore, which influenced her future writing.

Angela became known for her unique style and bold themes in literature. She was active in the literary movement known as "new feminism," and her writing was active in discussing female sexuality, power, and cultural stereotypes. Her work also incorporates elements of magical realism and Gothic literature.

One of Angela's most famous works is the collection of short stories "The Bloody Chamber" (Bloody Chamber), published in 1979. This collection revisits classic tales and myths, giving them a modern and erotic character. approaches fairy tales as a means of conveying women's experiences and perspectives.

Angela Carter has always stressed the importance of female emancipation and the exploration of sexuality in her writing. She believed that literature had the power to provoke debate and change society. Her writing often mocks canons and taboos, calling readers to reflection and provoking debate.
