Vladimir Nabokov - Biography

Ivanovich Nabokov is one of the brightest and most significant names in world literature of the 20th century. A Russian-American writer, literary critic and linguist, he has created works that are exhilarating and controversial, emotive and thought-provoking. Let's immerse ourselves in the biography of Nabokov, starting from his childhood and ending with the influence on modern literature.

Vladimir was born on April 22, 1899 in St. Petersburg, Russia, the son of a noble aristocrat Vladimir Dmitrievich and his wife Elena Ivanovna Ruzaeva. He was the eldest of five children in the family. His childhood was spent in an atmosphere of wealth and cultural enrichment, and he received a high-quality education, including the study of foreign languages and literature.

In 1917, after the October Revolution, the Nabokov family was forced to leave Russia and emigrate. Vladimir studied in Cambridge and then in Berlin, where he began to actively write. Emigration became an important topic in his works, and he often described his memories of Russia and the loss of his native land.

Vladimir was famous for his outstanding literary style and mastery of words. His novels such as "Lolita" (1955) and "Pale Fire" (1962) became classics of world literature. He used wordplay, metaphors, and unconventional storytelling techniques to create unique works that generated interest in profound philosophical and ethical issues.

The novel "Lolita" has become one of the most famous and controversial works of Vladimir. It tells the story of Humbert Hambert, a man who falls in love with a fourteen-year-old girl named Lolita. The novel provoked fierce debate and criticism, but also drew attention to issues of sexuality, morality and the art of storytelling.

In addition to his literary work, Vladimir was an outstanding linguist and literary critic. He studied the structure and evolution of language, and his work in this field had a significant impact on linguistic science.
