Virginia Woolf - Biography

She was an outstanding British writer, stream of consciousness researcher and one of the greatest literary figures of the 20th century. Virginia Adeline Stevenson was born on January 25, 1882 in London, into a middle-class family. Her parents were educated people and had a significant impact on her development. Virginia grew up in a circle of cultural personalities and quickly developed her literary abilities.

After the death of her father, Virginia and her family moved to Cornwall, where she continued her education at home and began writing her first stories. Her early writing already demonstrated her unique style and sensitivity to the inner world of the characters.

Virginia began her literary career by publishing articles and reviews in various literary journals. However, the real breakthrough was the publication of her first novel, "To the Ways of Light" (1915), which immediately received critical acclaim.

The following years were rich in Virginia literary work. She wrote the novels "Jacob's Room" (1922) and "Mrs. Dalloway" (1925), which continued her stream-of-consciousness experiments and represented an innovative approach to storytelling. However, her real masterpiece and greatest work was the novel "To the Lighthouse" (1927), which personifies her genius and courage in literary experiments.

Virginia was not only a writer, but also an active feminist and literary critic. Her essays and articles on literature and feminism left a significant mark on academia. She was one of the most important figures of the British Bloomsbury literary movement and was actively involved in the intellectual discussions of her time.
