Victor Hugo - Biography

Biography a Hugo: The Great French Poet and Writer

Victor Hugo is a name associated with great literary works and the struggle for justice. In this biography, we look at the key moments of his life, his contribution to world literature and his active participation in the public life of France.

Victor was born on February 26, 1802 in Besançon, France, the son of General Napoleon Bonaparte. His childhood was a period of wandering due to military campaigns, and he grew up in numerous cities in France. In this troubled environment, the young one began to develop his literary talent.

Victor's first literary successes came in the early 1820s, when he began publishing poetry and essays. He was recognized as one of the leading representatives of romanticism in French literature and became a popular poet thanks to his collections of poems, such as "Thunderstorms of Air" (Les Orientales) and "Songs of Lost Children" (Les Chants du Crépuscule).

However, Hugo won real fame thanks to his novels. His works "Notre-Dame de Paris," also known as "Our Lady of Paris," and "Les Misérables" became classics of world literature. "Notre Dame Cathedral" tells about medieval Paris architecture and has become a symbol of the struggle to preserve cultural heritage.

Victor was not only a great writer, but also an active supporter of the ideas of freedom and justice. He actively advocated the abolition of the death penalty and for human rights. His words and works have inspired many human rights activists around the world.
