The word "Veda" comes from the Sanskrit root "species," meaning "knowledge." The Vedas were recorded in ancient India thousands of years ago, although scholars and historians still argue over the exact date of their creation. They are considered among the most ancient written texts and contain a rich collection of knowledge about religion, philosophy, morality, astronomy, astrology, art and science.

The Vedas consist of four main texts or collections known as the Vedas. These four Vedas include:

1. Rigveda: The oldest of the Vedas, consisting of mantras (verses) and songs dedicated to gods and cosmic laws.

2. Samaveda: This Veda contains melodies and songs intended to be performed during ritual ceremonies.

3. Yajurveda: This text contains procedures and mantras used during sacrifices and rituals.
