Theodore was born on August 27, 1871 in Terre Haute, Indiana, United States, to German immigrant parents. His childhood was spent in poverty, and he faced the difficulties of life early. These early impressions left a deep mark on his work and views on social justice.

Dreiser began his literary career as a journalist, working for newspapers and magazines. His writing talent quickly emerged and he became known for his reporting and articles on social issues and working-class life. His background in journalism influenced his future work.

However, real success came to Theodore Dreiser with the publication of his novel "Sister Kerry" in 1900. This novel was the first step towards his recognition as a great American writer. In it, he explored the life of a young woman striving for success, and thereby raised important questions about female emancipation and social justice.

However, Dreiser achieved real literary fame with the publication of the novel Titan in 1914. This novel, based in part on the life of industrial tycoon Charles Warren, became a critique of capitalism and the embodiment of the American dream. "Titan" became a bestseller and established as one of the leading American writers of its time.

Theodore has always been a heightened observer of social problems and inequality in society. His novels, such as "An American Tragedy," explore the moral dilemmas and moral choices of major characters. was a critic of capitalism and fought for social justice.
