Stephen Edwin was born on September 21, 1947 in Portland, Maine, USA. His childhood was ordinary, but already at an early age his literary inclinations manifested themselves. began writing short stories and poems, and his family and school plays showed his talent and imagination.

Stephen attended the Faculty of Education at the University of Maine, but after completing his degree worked in a variety of locations, including a laundry and gas station.
