Sheridan Le was born on 28 August 1814 in Dublin, Ireland. He was the fourth son of Thomas Fan and Elizabeth Fan, and his family was associated with the Irish literary and cultural milieu. His father was an actor and playwright, and his uncle was a famous comedian. This environment contributed to the development of Le Fan as a future writer.
