Shel was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1930. His childhood was full of adventure and inspiration. His parents encouraged his creative aspirations and stimulated his imagination. From an early age, Shel showed a unique talent for drawing and verbal art.

After graduating from high school, Shel went to university, but soon dropped out and decided to follow his passion for art. During the Korean War, he was called up for military service, where he continued to draw and write poetry. His army service inspired his first works.

After returning from the army, Shel Silverstein began to work actively as an artist and writer. His illustrations and poems began to be published in various magazines and newspapers. He also began writing songs and working as a cartoonist.

However, the real breakthrough was his children's literature. In 1963, he published his first book for children, entitled "Good Morning Tree!" It was the start of his incredible career as an author and illustrator of children's books. His works such as "Where Are You, Light?" and "Let's all go to school!, "became bestsellers and won over millions of readers.
