Samuel Pepsi - Biography

Pepsi is a name that remains eternal in the history of literature and diaries. This 17th-century English writer, civil servant and public figure left an indelible mark on history thanks to his unique diary. Samuel was born on February 23, 1633 in London, in the family of a telegraph operator. His parents were well-off but not rich, and Samuel was their speck. He received a good education, starting his grammar school studies at Grammar School in Grammaton and then going to Cambridge University.

Returning to London after his studies, he began his career in maritime administration. He soon became assistant general secretary of the Admiralty, and later took up the post himself. This is the beginning of his successful career in public service.

One of the best known aspects of Samuel's life is his diary, which he kept from 1660 to 1669. This diary became a valuable source of information about life in London during the Stuart era, as well as about events that took place during the bubonic plague, the Great Fire of London and the restoration of the monarchy after Interregnum.

In Pepsi's diary, he candidly described his feelings, thoughts and observations, creating an unmatched portrait of his time.
