Robert Howard - Biography

Ervin Howard (Robert Ervin Howard) was born on January 22, 1906 in Pixberg, Texas, USA. He grew up in the small town of Cross Plains, Texas, in a middle-rural family. His childhood was spent in difficult conditions, and he suffered from poverty and social problems, which affected his understanding and late work.

From childhood, Robert showed interest in reading and writing. He attended local schools and read books extensively, especially adventure and historical novels. These early interests inspired him to create his own stories and poems.

Although he began writing as a child, his real writing career began in the 1920s, when he began to publish his stories in magazines. He was particularly known for his tales of adventure and exotic places such as Africa and Asia.

He gained the greatest fame and popularity thanks to his character Conan the Barbarian. The first story about Conan was published in 1932, and this character became his most famous and popular creation. Conan is a barbarian from a fictional land whose stories take place in a world of magic, adventure and battle. The character of Conan the Barbarian became a symbol of the sword and magic genre and the personification of strength and the will to live in difficult conditions.

Although Howard was a successful writer, his personal life was far from cloudless. He suffered from depression and social isolation, and his relationships with women were complex and often ended badly. Severe depression and personal problems caused his late suicide. On June 11, 1936, at the age of only 30, Robert Howard committed suicide.

Although Robert Howard's life was short and tragic, his literary legacy had a huge impact on the fantasy and adventure genre. The character of Conan the Barbarian became iconic and inspired many writers, artists, directors and game developers. His work continues to be popular and influences contemporary art and literature.
