Biography a Burns: Life, Creativity and Heritage of the Scottish BardRobert Burns is a name associated with Scottish culture, poetry and music. He was one of the greatest poets to ever live, and his poems and songs remain popular and inspiring until today. In this biography, we look at key moments in his life, his contributions to literature and music, and his impact on culture and society.
Robert was born on January 25, 1759 in the village of Aylesay in Scotland. He was the first of seven children in a poor peasant family. His childhood was not easy, but showed an interest in reading and education from a very young age. His mother, Agnes Brown, was a very educated woman, and she inspired him to study.
Robert began writing poetry from an early age, and his first works were written in Scottish dialect. In 1786, he published his first collection of poems entitled "Poems that threaten to be burned." It was a success, and was recognized as a poet.
However, he achieved real fame with the release of the collection Bard of Ayrshire (Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect) in 1787. This collection became a bestseller and Burns was nicknamed "The Bard of Ayrshire" and recognised as Scotland's national poet.
Robert's stanzas often covered themes of nature, love, life and death. He portrayed the lives of Scottish peasants and expressed sympathy for their labours and suffering. His poems were written in dialect, which gave them special authenticity and charm.
