Raymond Carver - Biography

Carver is one of the most influential American writers of the 20th century, known for his short stories and piercing works. His style and view of human nature made him one of the greatest masters of short prose. In this biography, we look at the life and work of Carver, from his childhood to his influence on world literature.

Raymond was born on May 25, 1938, in Kletsk, Oregon, the son of a woodcarver and his wife. Childhood was difficult and the family often faced financial difficulties. However, even in such conditions, Raymond developed his interest in reading and writing.

After graduating from high school, he entered Chemeket College in Salem, Oregon, and subsequently continued his education in Sacramento, California. His passion for literature began to manifest itself in those years, and he began to write his first stories.

While studying in Sacramento, he met his future wife, Marian. They quickly fell in love and married in 1957. Family life brought both joy and challenges, but they supported each other in their creative aspirations.

At the beginning of his literary career, Raymond Carver published his stories in little-known literary magazines and anthologies. He began to gain fame for his observations of everyday life and the characters of ordinary people.

In 1967, he published his first book of short stories, entitled "Birds," which received critical and reader acclaim. This was the beginning of his literary success.
