This Irish writer and playwright became famous for his vivid and satirical works, as well as his extraordinary lifestyle. Oscar Finnegan was born on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Ireland, in the family of the famous doctor and writer William and Sissy Wilde. His family was educated and wealthy, and Oscar received a quality education, going to Trinity College, Dublin, and then to Oxford University.

Wilde always drew attention to himself with his sharp mind and literary talent. His career began as a writer and poet, and already in his early works his satirical style and elegant writing were visible. He traveled around Europe, getting acquainted with famous writers and artists.

Wilde moved to London, where his wit and charm won the audience. He became known for his witty and aphoristic statements, which were collected in many quotes and aphorisms. His comedies such as "The Perfect Society" and "The Princess and the Potter" were successful on stage.

One of the most famous and important works is the novel "Portrait of Dorian Gray," published in 1890. This novel explores the theme of moral degradation and vice in upper class society and remains relevant today.

Wilde also became known for his overt homosexuality, which was a crime at the time. His relationship with Lord Alfred Douglas led to a trial which resulted in a two-year heavy sentence. After his release, he went into exile in France.
