Maurice was born on 6 November 1869 in Maleville-sur-Tarn, a small town in southern France. He was the eldest of five children in the family. In 1881, at the age of 12, Maurice began his studies at the local school of fine arts in Toulouse. His talent was evident and he continued to refine his craft. In 1887 he moved to Paris, where he entered École de Bozard, one of the most prestigious art schools in France.

Condie was trained by famous artists such as Jules Lemaître and quickly developed his own style. His work began to attract attention and recognition at exhibitions in Paris and beyond.
