Luis Alberto Urrea - Biography
Urrea was born on June 20, 1955, in Tijuana, Mexico, and raised in a Mexican-American family on the border between Mexico and the United States. His family moved to San Diego, California when he was a child. The experience had a profound impact on his writing and he became a literary voice for migrants and borders.Urrea received a bachelor's degree from San Diego University and then a master's degree from Columbia University.
