Polo: The Great Italian Traveller and Explorer

Lorenzo is one of the most famous and influential Italians in history. His life and achievements have left an incredible mark on the history of research and travel. Lorenzo was born in Venice, Italy in 1254. His family was a prominent and wealthy Venetian trading dynasty, and Lorenzo grew up in an atmosphere of wealth and luxury.

However, the real adventure began when Lorenzo was just 17 years old. In 1271, he went with his father and uncle on an expedition to the Far East. Their goal was to reach China, which at the time was a mysterious and inaccessible country for many Europeans. The journey took several years, and they crossed many dangerous and impassable places. Under his coat, Lorenzo hid from the heat and dust, and his resilience in these difficult conditions was striking.

When they finally reached China, they were struck by the wealth and beauty of this ancient country. Lorenzo was one of the first Europeans to see the Great Wall of China and the Chinese Palace. He was impressed by the Chinese culture, customs and trade opportunities that this country represented.

Lorenzo Polo met with Kubla Khan, the ruler of the Mongol Empire, who allowed him to become his adviser and go on diplomatic missions. Lorenzo spent more than 17 years in China and his adventures were exciting. He traveled all over the country, studying its geography, culture and economics.

After many years in China, Lorenzo decided to return to Italy, but on the way home his ship fell into a storm and ended up on an island that belonged to the Java archipelago. He was caught by the military and captured, where he stayed for several more years.
