Leonardo da Vinci - Biography

Vinci is a name that is associated with genius and universal abilities. He was a great Italian painter, scientist, inventor, architect and engineer of the Renaissance. Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452 in a small town in Tuscany, Italy. He was the illegitimate son of the silversmith Pierre and the peasant lady Katerina. His generic name was Leonardo di Ser Piero da Vinci, meaning "Leonardo, son of Piero of Vinci." From an early age, Leonardo developed an interest in the world of art and science.
