Kim was born on June 11, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri. His childhood was spent in a deprived area, where he witnessed violence and absurd court decisions that had a huge impact on his future career. Kim was young and ambitious, and he dreamed of changing a system he felt was sometimes unfair.

In 1994, Kim was innocently charged with a murder he did not commit. His arrest and prosecution were pivotal moments in his life. He enrolled in law school and began fighting for justice for the other innocently accused.

Kim Gardner gained fame for his work in the field of human rights and the fight against errors in the judicial system. He founded a non-profit organization called the Innovation Center for the Protection of Human Rights ("Innocence Project"), which researches incorrect sentences and helps convicts who were innocent.

In 2016, Kim was elected as St. Louis city attorney, making him one of the youngest and most powerful prosecutors in the country. In this position, he actively transformed the judiciary, eliminated injustices and introduced reforms aimed at supporting justice and human rights.
