His deep lyrics, melodic voice and genuine passion for music made him one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. In this biography, we take a look at Cash's life and musical legacy.

Johnny was born on February 26, 1932, in Kingsland, Arkansas, to a farming family. His childhood was spent in difficult conditions during the Great Depression, and this affected his late music, which often reflected themes of poverty, loss and justice.

Cash's musical roots extended into authentic American genres such as blues, gospel, and country music. He began playing guitar in early childhood and developed an interest in music. His characteristic baritone and sensual style of performance immediately attracted the attention of listeners. He signed to the famous Sun Records label, where he made his first hits such as "Cry, Cry, Cry" and "I Walk the Line." The latter became one of Cash's most famous songs and his signature tune.
