John Stuart Mill is a name associated with liberal philosophy, freedom and efforts to improve the living conditions of people. He was one of the most influential thinkers of the 19th century, having a profound impact on the philosophy, economics and politics of his time. In this biography, we talk about the life and philosophy of John Stuart Mill, his contribution to the development of liberal thought and his influence on modern society.

John Stewart was born on 20 May 1806 in London, UK, the son of philosopher and historian James Mill. His childhood was marked by an extraordinary education - his father raised him himself and taught him the basics of philosophy and economics. In his early years, John showed outstanding ability and began to read complex texts, including the works of Homer and Aristotle.

From early childhood he was subjected to strict education and the development of his intellectual abilities. He studied Latin, Greek, and philosophy, and traveled and learned various cultures and languages. His philosophical interests developed, and he began to analyze problems of social justice and individual freedom.

John Stewart became famous for his contributions to economic and philosophical thought. His work "Principles of Political Economy" (Principles of Political Economy) became a classic work in the field of economics and included the study of market laws and the role of the state in the economy. In philosophy, he developed the concept of utilitarianism, based on the principle of maximizing happiness for the largest number of people.

One of the key aspects of John Stuart Mill's philosophy was to assert individual liberty and limit the power of the state. In his essay On Liberty, he argued that individual freedom is a fundamental principle, and the state should not interfere with personal freedoms as long as it does not harm others. This work became one of the main doctrines of liberal philosophy.

John Stewart was also a supporter of gender equality and actively supported the movement for female emancipation. In his essay "The Subjection of Women," he argued that women should have the same rights and opportunities as men, and that their subordination is a form of injustice and discrimination.
