Ivan was born on 22 October 1870 in Voronezh, Russian Empire. He went from his native Voronezh to great literary success, but his writing talent began to manifest itself from an early age. His childhood was associated with the beauty of Russian nature and the unique atmosphere of village life, which later became an important element of his literary heritage.

Bunin received a classical education in a gymnasium and even attended law courses, but his true passion has always been associated with literature and writing. He began publishing his poems and short stories in various literary magazines, and his talent quickly attracted the attention of critics and readers.

The very first book was the collection of poems "Horseshoe" (1899), which opened his doors to the literary world. He was recognized as one of the leaders of Russian symbolism and was considered the heir to the great Russian poets of the past. In his poetry he embodied the beauty of nature, feelings and emotions, which made his poems unique.

However, he gained real fame as a prose writer. Bunin's short stories and novels, such as "Dark Alleys" (1906) and "The Village" (1909), became famous for their sincerity and beauty of language. He described the life of ordinary people, Russian nature and feelings, which made his works incredibly heartfelt.

The most famous work was the novel "Virgin Soil Upturned" (1912), which received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1933. In this book, he described the experiences of the Russian intelligentsia and many Russian emigrants in the era of changes and storms.
