Born in Polyhedron, Texas, Errol spent his childhood in the vicinity of the city of Houston. His interest in film and journalism came from a very young age, and he began making short films at a young age. After graduating from high school, he attended Princeton University, where he studied art and anthropology.

However, his real calling became clear when he went to Oxford University and began studying philosophy. This experience of exploring philosophical concepts and research methodologies became key elements of his future work.

One of Errol Morris' most famous and influential films is The Thin Blue Line, released in 1988. This film explores the story of the murder of a police officer in Texas and the erroneous conviction of one of the accused. The film not only generated widespread public interest in the case, but also led to a review of the conviction of the accused, making it one of the first documentaries capable of influencing the trial.

Another important project was the film "The Fog of War," released in 2003. The film is an interview with Robert McNamara, the former US Secretary of Defense, and explores his role during the Vietnam War. The film won the Oscar for best documentary and showcased Morris' unique style, which combines interviews with event reenactments and animation.
