After graduating from high school, Erich attended Harvard University, where he studied classical literature and languages. At Harvard, he distinguished himself as a bright and talented student and was recognized as one of the best graduates of his year.
After receiving a bachelor's degree, he continued his education at Harvard Business School and later received a Ph.D. in classical literature from Harvard University.
