Brooklyn, published in 2009, has become one of Colin's most famous works. This book tells the story of a young Irish girl named Eileen who moves to New York in search of a better life. The novel received wide acclaim from critics and readers and was nominated for the prestigious Man Booker Literary Award. It was also adapted into a successful film.
