Clive Staples Lewis - Biography

Lewis, better known as C.S. Lewis, is one of the most important figures in world literature and religious thought of the 20th century. His rich creativity and deep thoughts continue to inspire readers and researchers around the world. In this biography, we will immerse ourselves in the life and work of this outstanding person.

Clive Staples was born on 29 November 1898 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to Albert Lewis and Florence Amelia (Hamilton) Lewis. Already in early childhood, he showed interest in reading and fantasy, which became the first steps in the direction of his future literary career.

Lewis received his education at Malvern School and Strongscool, Oxford, where he trained in classical disciplines and literature. Subsequently, he became a teacher of English literature at Oxford, which had a huge impact on his late career and his work.

C.S. began his literary career as a poet and critic. He was passionate about English Irish literature and wrote essays and poems on the subject. In 1933, he published his first science fiction novel, "The Space Trilogue," which consisted of the books "The Exorcist of Eden," "Fracture Through the Clouds," and "The Last Battle." These works established him as the author of the genre and brought him wide fame.

However, Lewis's real fame came from his Chronicles of Narnia, a series of fantasy novels starting with "The Lion, the Witch and the Closet." With these books, he created an amazing world filled with magic, adventure and moral lessons. The Chronicles of Narnia has become a classic of children's literature and is still read and discussed worldwide.

Clive Lewis's biography is also inseparable from his religious beliefs and spiritual development. Although he grew up in an Anglican Christian family, in his youth he moved away from the faith and became an atheist. However, through a series of philosophical and spiritual reflections, as well as under the influence of his friend and Oxford colleague J.R.R. Tolkien, he turned to Christianity and became one of its most prominent defenders.
